New venture Health Squared Publishing is hoping to cash in on the latest health concerns about food by launching three ditles dedicated to nutrition.
Nutrition Review, the first launch, is due out in January and will target 80,000 food scientists, nutritionists and medical practitioners. The B2B monthly promises to provide coverage of the latest developments in nutrition as well as specific reports and comment from professionals within the industry on issues such as GM food. It will be distributed via controlled circulation and subscription.
Chris Shepherd, former editor of online news service Health Media, is editor and the company is in the process of recruiting staff. Managing director Andrew Wigmore said he planned to take on up to four new journalists for the first launch.
Nutrition Review will be followed later in the year by two other monthlies – Business Health and Health Directory. He said all three titles would be niche and focused on areas currently underserved by existing publishers.
“We will be going for market leadership,” he said. “The launches are timely given the recent reports about food in the papers on everything from cancer to obesity. Food is massive.”
