duped over the weekend into publishing misleading pictures of Kate Moss in New York.
The
News of the World said it “tracked down the supermodel” to New York on
Sunday, where “fresh out of rehab” she went out to dinner with pals
dressed in “evening gown, drop earrings and with her hair swept up”.
But
Press Gazette has learned that Moss has not been to New York since
coming out of rehab and that the pictures are believed to be old ones.
According to one source, the NoW paid £10,000 for a picture that was bylined Brennan/Murphy/Goldstein.
The model is reported to have spent a month in a drug rehab clinic in Arizona.
The front-page story revealed that back in London her lover, singer Pete Doherty, was having an affair with an art student.
A
spokesman for the News of the World said: “The pictures were supplied
by a reputable agency who stand by their authenticity. There is
absolutely no doubt that these are pictures of Kate Moss.
“However, in light of comments made by her representatives over when the pictures were taken, we are investigating.”
Doherty’s
lawyer issued a statement saying: “Pete Doherty wishes to make it clear
that despite current rumours to the contrary, his relationship with
documentary maker Nuhan Razik is strictly platonic.”
