Norwich Evening News campaigns to save the pub

By Dominic wireposts

The Norwich Evening News has launched a campaign to save an institution dear to the hearts of many journalists – the local pub.

It reports today that in 1905 there were 363 pubs inside the city walls but that only 140 remained in the whole of Norwich by the end of 2008.

The Evening News says in today’s report: “Through our new Love Your Local campaign we are aiming to encourage people to support their favourite boozer by highlighting all that is good about them, including the positive impact they can have on a community.

“Over the next few weeks we will be setting out the reasons why pubs are so important to the city and why we need to save them for future generations.”
