Night & Day, the Mail on Sunday’s glossy celebrity and listings
supplement, is going to have a much harder edge when it relaunches
shortly under the direction of Daily Mail associate editor Martin
Clarke.
Reporters and feature writers are being sent on far newsier assignments and dummies are said to contain more “boys’ toys”.
The
whole effect will make the supplement more appealing for men. Until
now, under the team led by its previous editor Christena Appleyard, the
focus has been more on the glamorous style of the celebrity magazines.
Working with Andrew Davies at Night & Day, Clarke is now juggling two jobs since his recent promotion.
Night & Day has changed considerably since its first incarnation led by Simon Kelner, now editor of The Independent.
Under Kelner it was a serious-minded, upmarket look at the issues of the day.
