The National Magazine Company is believed to be planning the launch
of a weekly title called Real People, edited by the former deputy
editors of Emap’s Closer and its own Reveal .
The publisher has
not commented on the rumours, but has applied to register the name as a
trademark. The title, codenamed Project Cloud, is expected to be edited
by Maria Trjkulia, who resigned as deputy editor of Reveal last month,
and Michael Butcher, who was deputy editor of Closer .
Real
People would be NatMags’ second women’s weekly, following the launch of
Reveal last October as a joint venture with Australian publisher ACP.
ACP publishes three women’s weeklies in Australia, and it is thought one of these would be used as a model.
