The Sun’s recently appointed editor, Dominic Mohan, has promoted associate editors Simon Cosyns and Geoff Webster to be joint deputy editors.
Mohan started in his new post on Tuesday after being appointed to lead the Sun last month following the promotion of Rebekab Brooks (nee Wade) in June to become chief executive of News International.
He made an internal staff memo on Friday confirming the new appointments, the Guardian reported this morning.
Cosyns was appointed associate editor of the Sun in 2003 after joining from the Daily Mirror where he had been art director.
Webster also joined the Sun in 2003 but from the News of the World, where he’d been head of pictures.
