New press freedom centre in Doha

A new independent media watchdog has been set up in Qatar, the Qatar Journal and the Gulf Times both reported this week.

Reporters Without Borders and the Qatari government announced on 3 January that a new centre for press freedom would open in three months and provide protection for journalists as well as medical treatment for those wounded in the course of their work.
