Scotland’s First Minister, Jack McConnell, has opened the new offices of the Motherwell Times, which is in his constituency.
The paper’s editor, Archie Fleming, and former editor, Robert
Wilson, welcomed the MSP for Motherwell and Wishaw at an official
ribbon-cutting ceremony.
McConnell, pictured left, spoke of the
vital role of local newspapers and praised the impartial reporting of
the Motherwell Times.
In the past few months the Johnston-owned
paper, which has a circulation of 15,000, has experienced a number of
major changes, including a new editor, a redesign and a new masthead.
