Western Telegraph editor Fiona Phillips has been appointed as the new editor of the Hereford Times.
Phillips will replace former Hereford Times editor Liz Griffin when she takes up her new role on 1 February.
Griffin’s role has been empty since she moved into a special projects role with Newsquest, parent company of both weekly papers, in September.
Hereford Times deputy editor, David Edwards, had been acting editor prior to Phillips’ appointment.
Phillips has been editor of the Western Telegraph, which is based in Haverford West, since 2002 after starting as a trainee on the paper in 1980.
She left the Telegraph to edit the Swansea Gazette in 1985. Phillips then worked as a chief court reporter for a news agency before returning to the Western Telegraph in 1989.
