Transport weekly Commercial Motor has appointed a new editor and been given a radical editorial overhaul and redesign for its September issue, writes Sarah Boden.
Andy Salter, who joined the title from Reed stablemate Truck, said the magazine wanted to be agenda-setting for everybody who has a stake in road transport.
“We’re repositioning the magazine to be at the heart of the road transport industry,” he said. The changes took place after a year of reader consultation. “We’ve introduced more of an independent and contentious edge and we’re more hard-hitting and forthright,” said Salter.
The design has also been modernised, with increased white space, more artwork and a brighter masthead. The title will have a reduced cover price of £1 during September, before returning to the usual £1.70.
