NCTJ launches sports course

By owenamos

The National Council for the Training of Journalists has launched a sports journalism distance learning course for qualified journalists.

The programme can be studied after, or alongside, any NCTJ accredited reporting course.

It covers the sports news cycle, press conferences, sports public affairs, politics, features, and subbing.

Dave King, NCTJ chief examiner for sport journalism, said: ‘This thorough and professional course is a great opportunity for young journalists to get a first foot on the ladder of sports journalism.

‘Its wide and varied curriculum will challenge students and equip them with the skills they will need to achieve success in the high-octane world of sports journalism.”

The new course is £95 plus VAT, and available from the NCTJ. The course text – Sports Journalism, A Practical Introduction, by Phil Andrews – is included in the price, but is also sold separately for £21.99.
