Monck to head journalism at City University

By Press Gazette

By Caitlin Pike

City University in London has appointed Adrian Monck, executive
producer of Sky News, as head of its department of journalism and
publishing.

He starts in May taking over from Rod Allen, who has led the department since 1996.

Monck
started his career at CBS News, covering events such as Lockerbie, the
collapse of the Soviet Union, Tiananmen Square and the first Gulf War.
His work in Dunblane and Bosnia earned him Royal Television Society
awards; he also won the New York Festival’s gold medal for special
reports and scooped the festival’s overall prize.

Monck moved to ITN’s News at 10 in 1993, and joined the launch team for Channel 5 News in 1996, rising to managing editor.

Sue
Robertson, dean of the school of arts at City University, commented:
“His journalistic knowledge and experience will add an important
further dimension to the extraordinary pool of professional expertise
already in the department, and his leadership skills will help ensure
we remain the UK leader in journalism and publishing education.”
