Mohamed Al Fayed 'named as possible buyer for Richard Desmond's papers'

The former Harrods owner Mohamed Al Fayed has been named as one of several possible candidates in the running to buy Richard Desmond’s national papers, according to a report.

Al Fayed, property developers the Candy brothers and other national newspaper publishers have been named by Media Week as possible buyers.

This latest report follows stories over the weekend suggesting that Daily Mail and General Trust had held “informal” talks with Desmond about buying his newspapers.
