Rob Merrick has been appointed lobby editor of the Press Association’s parliamentary service in Westminster following the company’s purchase of Central Press Features.
Merrick was editor of the Central Press team before the merger. PA’s four-year-old Westminster News will now go under the banner of the Central Press Lobby. Central Press has operated a Westminster-based service for more than 135 years. There are now five team members after one reporter was made redundant.
Merrick said: “This will allow us to serve other regional papers and media who can see the obvious benefits of having a dedicated correspondent at Westminster, but are unable to employ their own.”
The service covers parliamentary affairs for regional newspapers and TV stations, magazines and websites.
