Media thwarted in bid to see Weddell bail transcripts

Journalists’ have so far been thwarted in their attempts to see the transcripts of bail proceedings in the case of Garry Weddell, the murder-suspect police officer released on bail only to apparently murder his mother-in-law.

Alex Thomson, writing in The Guardian, says: “According to the Judicial Communications Office, transcripts of this nature have never been made public.”

He is hopeful that when the inquest opens tomorrow, the coroner will give clearance for the transcripts to appear online.
