Former BBC journalist Steve McCormack has become consultant editor for Teachers magazine produced by John Brown Citrus Publishing.
McCormack, who was with the corporation for nearly 20 years as a reporter, also writes educational stories for The Independent and is supplyteaching part time.
He will help shape the editorial content of the bi-monthly alongside an editor, who is yet to be named. The Department for Education and Skills awarded the contract to JBCP and its first issue went out in September.
McCormack said: “Because I am a teacher I have a good idea about what teachers want. I know how little time they have so I want to make sure that content is enjoyable and useful.”
JBCP chief executive Andrew Hirsch said of the appointment: “Steve is a great find and his experience will help ensure the magazine talks to teachers – keeps them informed and makes them feel understood.”
