Former Sun features editor Matt Nixson is suing News Corp‘s Management and Standards Committee over his sacking from the paper three months ago.
Former News of the World news editor Nixson was summarily dismissed without notice pay in July on the orders of the committee, which has been set up to preside over the post phone-hacking scandal clean-up operation.
Nixson is also understood to be suing News International separately for unfair dismissal.
According to the NUJ, which is supporting Nixson, he has been given no evidence supporting his dismissal by News International. And he is not understood to be under police investigation.
Simon Greenberg, Will Lewis and Jeffrey Palker, all members of the MSC, are are understood to have been named in Nixson’s legal action as well Lord Grabiner, who has been taken on by NI to oversee the work of the committee.
Nixson is expected to claim extensive damages because of the damage his sacking has done to his career.
