Marie Claire ties up Timberlake

By Press Gazette

Marie Claire has done its first tie-up with parent company AOL Time Warner by featuring a bare-chested shot of singer Justin Timberlake on the cover of its May issue, writes Ruth Addicott.

AOL is running a poll on its Women’s channel asking people to comment on Timberlake’s personality and dance moves and whether they think he is sexier than David Beckham, who appeared on the cover of Marie Claire last June. Becks was the first solo male cover star to appear in the glossy since its launch in 1988. It also proved to be the biggest-selling issue in the six-month ABC period.

Marie Claire editor Marie O’Riordan said there was only one candidate for the male cover slot. “The whole world has gone Justin crazy. For us he’s got the three S’s – southern charm, a sexy six-pack and, best of all, he’s single.

“What’s not to like?”
