Marc Reeves to launch Brum business site

By Press Gazette

Former Birmingham Post editor Marc Reeves is going up against his old paper to launch a business news website for Birmingham.

Reeves was made redundant at the beginning of January as Trinity Mirror took the Post from daily to a weekly newspaper.

Now he is set to launch a Birmingham version of the BusinessDesk.com – the business news website founded by a group of former regional press journalists that already has editions in Leeds and Liverpool.

Reeves has recruited two journalists for the site, which Press Gazette understands is set to launch at the beginning of next month. This brings the total number of journalists employed by TheBusinessdesk.com to around ten.

TheBusinessdesk was launched by former Yorkshire Post business editor David Parkin backed by a group of professional investors in November 2007.

Each regional edition provides breaking business stories throughout the day and a daily email round up. The business model is based around advertising and events.
