The website of the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday – Mail Online – was the most popular national newspapers website in August with 28.8m unique users.
It was the third month in a row that Mail Online has topped the national newspaper web readershiup league.
Traffic to Mail Online increased by 64.2 per cent year-on-year, but was slightly down month-on-month reflecting the fact that August is the holiday month.
Guardian.co.uk was in second place, attracting 26.7m unique users in August (up 26.4 per cent year on year).
Telegraph.co.uk was in third place with 24.8m unique users (up 12.6 per cent) and Sun Online was fourth with 23.8m unique users (up 48.9 per cent).
Times Online attracted 18.7m unique users to its site in August and was the only ABCe-audited national newspaper to record a year-on-year decline (down 4.8 per cent).
The Independent increased traffic to its website by 21.4 per cent year on year to 8m unique visitors and the websites of the Mirror, Sunday Mirror and People grew by 62.2 per cent to 9m unique users.
