Reporters at the Lynn News have a helping hand to challenge court orders. News editor Donna Semmens has produced a laminated, pocket-sized guide to help her staff.
The paper is finding it has to increasingly challenge orders and Semmens’ precis covers key areas of the Contempt of Court Act (Sections 4 and 11), the Children and Young Persons Act (Section 39), the Human Rights Act (Articles 8 and 10) and Anti-Social Behaviour Orders.
Editor Malcolm Powell said: “More of our time seems to be spent challenging wrongly made court orders. Recently a court tried to use Section 39 order to protect a defendant, who in fact was 26-years-old.”
