Real Business editor Alan Leyland has been confirmed as the new editor of William Reed's flagship title, The Grocer.
Before joining Caspian's Real Business, Leyland was freelancing for titles such as Marketing and Campaign.
Prior to that he was editor of Print Week (1993-98) and, for four months, edited Press Gazette in 1998, before leaving for New York to launch the US version of Haymarket's PR Week (1998- 2001).
Leyland told Press Gazette: "I am a weekly editor, and have been a weekly editor on three magazines. The Grocer is one of the biggest weekly magazines in the country, so I'm obviously excited to be returning to the news agenda that a weekly offers."
Leyland said the new role offered an opportunity to be part of the food industry at "a fascinating time" and added that the title's internet offering would become "extremely important"
in his new role.
"I'm sure the internet will occupy a lot of my time, because the magazine is outstanding and very highly regarded in the industry and the important thing now is to ensure the website is part of that — the move between the website and magazine should be seamless."
