Kirk bounces back from CCC closure to edit The Golf

By Press Gazette

Steve Kirk, former editor of IPC’s Cars and Car Conversions (CCC), has been appointed editor of VW motoring title The Golf, writes Ruth Addicott.

The move comes weeks after Kirk lost his job when CCC closed as a result of poor sales and ad revenue.

IPC is hoping to lift the profile of The Golf, especially given the launch of recent rival Ultra VW by former IPC editor Keith Seume and independent publishing company CHPublications.

Both titles are battling for a similar market, aimed at VW enthusiasts.

The Golf features mainly sporting and performance models and Kirk said he planned to inject a few new ideas, “creating a younger, more fun identity”.

He said he is also hoping to strengthen the magazine’s technical coverage. “I’ll be introducing track tests of new and tuned cars, and further developing the already strong technical content.”
