News-focused media officer sought for the UK’s leading agency for the English-language editorial media promotion of Nordic and German consumer and B2B startups.
Your role will be to identify – and respond to – emerging opportunities within the news agenda: intelligently turning developing stories to the advantage of remarkable startups, and securing meaningful exposure across print, broadcast, and online-only media.
You will also be involved in raising the profiles of key individuals within our startup clients, from visionary founders to academics behind university spin-outs.
Suitable for creative self-starters (who thrive in an environment offering a higher level of autonomy than the norm), you will work in parallel to the company’s teams dedicated to securing editorial media exposure within consumer, business, and technology media. The news-based results of your work will add momentum to the efforts of these teams, as well as contribute to the acquisition of new business, and other company objectives.
Ideally suited to those with journalistic experience, you should have an understanding of the UK media landscape and news cycle, know how to craft a compelling newsworthy narrative, and be confident in making calls to journalists. Deliberate PR is an anathema to what constitutes typical public relations in agency form. We don’t do silly stunts, lame photo opportunities, banal opinion polls and surveys, nor ever insult the intelligence of journalists.
Role may require travel to Scandinavia, Europe and USA (subject to lockdown status).
