We are seeking an enthusiastic reporter to cover politics in Surrey as part of the Local Democracy Reporting scheme.
You will work alongside the SurreyLive team in Guildford, also home to the Surrey Advertiser and Surrey Mirror, and play a vital role in supporting the BBC’s public journalism programme.
We need someone with a good knowledge of government and a desire to hold decision-makers to account, as well as the ability to write engaging and sparkling copy.
Shorthand and a formal qualification in journalism are essential for this role.
You will be a journalist based at the Guildford offices of SurreyLive, one of the UK’s most exciting digital titles and also home to the award-winning Surrey Advertiser and Surrey Mirror.
Working with its dedicated team of digital journalists and editors, you will be responsible for covering stories from Surrey County Council and its associated district councils.
Your work will have the potential to travel far and wide – your stories will also be accessible to the BBC and other publications and broadcasters throughout the region. Stories uncovered by our team have appeared on the BBC homepage or were followed up by national (sometimes international) outlets.
