ITV's news presenter Nicholas Owen has defected to the BBC after more than 20 years at ITN.
Owen, who currently presents the ITV Lunchtime News, will join BBC News 24 in February as a presenter.
Owen said: "I have had a marvellous 22 years with ITN, as a correspondent and a presenter. "My newspaper years were terrific, too. My only slight regret has been not moving into television earlier."
He began his career at the BBC as a reporter in the North of England and went on to become royal correspondent for ITV News. He has anchored all of ITN's major bulletins, including its lunchtime bulletin, the News at Ten and Channel Four News.
