Independent drops media supplement after four years


Four years after the Independent launched a seperate media pull-out on Mondays in direct competition with The Guardian – the supplement has been dropped in favour of a six-page media section merged into business.

Then editor Simon Kelner launched the supplement as a 24-page-section covering all aspects of the media which was intended as a vehicle for recruitment advertising.

The fact it has been axed is indicitive of the Indy’s failure to wrestle enough media job adverts away from Media Guardian, which dominates this sector.
