The presenter of BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, John Humphrys, will deliver this year’s MacTaggart Lecture at the Edinburgh International Television Festival.
The choice of Humphrys, who began broadcasting at the BBC in 1966, will lead many to expect some contentious comments from the veteran broadcaster, particularly regarding the state of the BBC post-Hutton.
The MacTaggart lecture, which was inaugurated in 1976 in memory of writer and director James MacTaggart, will officially open the festival on Friday 27 August 2004 at 6.30pm.
