Photographs sent in by readers formed a major part of the Hull Daily Mail’s coverage of the devastating floods which brought parts of the country to a standstill this week.
Within 24 hours of the Mail encouraging readers to send in pictures of floods caused by torrential rainfall in East Yorkshire, it received 200 images, one of which it used on its front page.
The BBC News website’s Have Your Say section received more than 3,300 pictures from members of the public, as well as 186 videos shot on mobile phones.
