Hinton to give lecture

News International executive chairman Les Hinton, left, will give the Society of Editors’ lecture at the opening of its annual conference, which runs from 16 to 18 October, in the Lake District.

Other
speakers confirmed include editors Alan Rusbridger of The Guardian,
Simon Kelner of The Independent, Charles McGhee of the Glasgow Evening
Times, Paul Horrocks of the Manchester Evening News, Robert Cockroft of
the Barnsley Chronicle, David Gledhill of the Bath Chronicle, and John
Meehan of the Hull Daily Mail.

Also speaking will be Press
Complaints Commission chairman Sir Christopher Meyer, Trevor Kavanagh
of The Sun, Melvyn Bragg, Pat Loughrey of the BBC, Ken MacDonald,
director of public prosecutions, Charles Garside of the Daily Mail,
Steve Egginton of Worldwide Media, Asha Oberoi of PA News, and Kevin
Maguire of the Daily Mirror.
