The Scarborough Evening News made a 20-mile dash to a car park to
catch up with Health Minister, Patricia Hewitt as a part of the
newspaper's campaign to save the town's hospital services.
The
Evening news is leading a protest over plans by York Health chiefs to
concentrate on key surgical tasks such as breast care in its' bid for
foundation status.
The Health Minister visited the Malton
Hospital to officially open up a new ward when the editor and a
photographer arrived and insisted on waiting until the she agreed to
give an unprepared press interview. A thousand protest posters were
distributed throughout Scarborough town.
Over 5,000 readers
