Haymarket Publishing has made its first move into the community-website business by acquiring www.pistonheads.com, a community website for car enthusiasts.
The site was set up eight years ago by Dave Edmonton, who will continue to be involved and will oversee the day to day running of the website.
Patrick Fuller, Haymarket Motoring Publishing Director, said: ‘We will be bringing and established motoring environment to the Pistonheads website which is already massively popular amongst car enthusiasts. If we can extend and expand its audience reach, we will, but we think this is a first-class business and, unless we can make genuine improvements, we do not intend to tinker under the bonnet too much.”
The website claims to have an established community of over 900,000 unique users a month. Haymarket said it will complement its existing car titles, What Car? and Autocar.
