The Guardian is to give away a 64-page supplement detailing the 150 best gastropubs in the UK.
Based on the format of The Guide, it will be distributed with the paper this Saturday. It is the work of the paper’s regular reviewers Jeremy Wayne and Matthew Fort.
The Guide to Gastropubs is to be promoted with television and radio advertising, as well as beer glasses and window stickers in all 150 of the recommended pubs.
Packets of pork scratchings labelled “Prefer your bar snacks hairless?” and packets of scampi fries labelled “Prefer your seafood fresh?” are to be distributed throughout London as part of an “ambient” marketing effort.
