Former Trinity Mirror chief executive Philip Graf is to be the new chairman of the Press Standards Board of Finance. He will succeed Sir Harry Roche who steps down at the end of the year.
Pressbof administers funds from newspaper and magazine groups to run the Press Complaints Commiss-ion and Graf has already been made a director.
Roche, who has led Pressbof for 13 years, said Graf’s experience makes him “ideally suited to lead the paper and magazine publishing industry in its continuing commitment to effective self-regulation”.
Graf praised Roche on his time at the board’s helm, saying: “During this period, he maintained the united commitment of all sectors of the press to its self-regulatory regime.”
He also said he was looking forward to working with the PCC’s incoming chairman, Sir Christopher Meyer and ensuring that the commission continued to have the whole-hearted support of the industry.
Pressbof is made up of representatives from the Newspapers Publishers Association, the Newspaper Society, the Periodical Publishers Association, the Scottish Daily Newspaper Society and the Scottish Newspaper Publishers Association.
