Gaunt stays silent over deal with Sun

By Press Gazette

Shock-jock Jon Gaunt, who is set to start writing a new outspoken
column at The Sun following Littlejohn’s departure, was keeping
uncharacteristically silent this week.

Press Gazette revealed
last week that award-winning radio presenter Gaunt (right) was forced
to leave his breakfast show at BBC Coventry and Warwickshire, which
launched the station only a month ago, when BBC bosses enforced
stringent guidelines on writing for other media.

Some BBC staff
see Gaunt’s departure from the breakfast programme as a harsh
enforcement of the guidelines when another high-profile presenter,
Vanessa Feltz, continues to write her column for the Daily Express.

However,
others say Gaunt is so outspoken over current affairs that hisnewspaper
column could compromise the station’s breakfast show.

Former comedy promoter Gaunt is expected to start in the next few weeks.
