Future is launching a magazine for people interested in tracing their ancestors.
The 100-page bimonthly Your Family Tree will be a practical guide and will include Q&As, news, case studies and book and software reviews.
The first issue features an introduction to family history research, a piece on how to use birth, marriage and death certificates as part of the research and tips on how to preserve old documents with the help of a computer. It also includes an insight into the lives of merchant seamen from 19th century by specialist writer Len Barnett and hints on how to trace your Irish roots by Irish genealogy expert John Grenham.
Future is hoping to attract readers with a free cover-mounted CD-Rom which will enable readers to scan in and restore old photos.
Publisher Dave Taylor said: “There has always been a certain interest in family trees. But with the computers and the internet playing an ever more important role in most people’s research, family history has become more popular.”
