Freelance NoW case is resolved

By Press Gazette

News of the World US stringer David Schumacher has settled his unfair dismissal case with the paper.

Schumacher
has been involved in many high-profile scoops over his 15 years working
for the paper – including helping to track down the prostitute Divine
Brown who was arrested with Hugh Grant in 1995.

He engaged lawyer
Carter Ruck in the case, which was first brought in July and was
unusual because Schumacher was a freelance employed on a retainer by
the NoW.

Schumacher said: “In the end I am quite pleased with
Carter Ruck’s performance and the News of the World’s efforts to
resolve this matter. The matter is now closed and behind me.”
