Scotland’s
biggest free newspaper, The Glaswegian, is claiming to be the first
weekly title with a commuter edition, which it launched yesterday.
The
Glaswegian has a total distribution of 154,844 and 10,000 copies of the
commuter edition will be distributed each Thursday between 4.30pm and
6.30pm at key points in the inner city.
The Trinity Mirror launch
comes just a week before Newsquest launches a free weekly newspaper for
the West End of Glasgow to more than 30,000 households in the area.
Garry
Thomas, editor of The Glaswegian, said: “I don’t see the West End as
being a threat, there are many other free weeklies circulating in the
area of the city and with The Glaswegian’s tremendous loyalty in the
West End we operate effectively against them all.”
