Former Today staff to mark 20th anniversary of closure with pub take-over

By Dominic Ponsford

Former staff members of Today newspaper are trying to organise a reunion to mark the 20th anniversary of its closure in November 1995.

It will take place on Saturday, 21 November, at the St Bride’s Tavern in Bridewell Place, Blackfriars, from 6pm.

The pub is normally closed at weekends and is opening especially (provided there is a minimum spend of £1,200). The organisers are seeking donations of £20 per person to cover the cost.

One of the organisers, Charles Rae, said: "It will be great to see quite a few old faces. So far there has been lots of interests. The £20 donation as well as contributing to the cost will let us know how many plan to turn up. We really need to know numbers in advance rather than people just turning up on the night.

"If people want to come they can get details of where to send cheques or making a payment into a bank account by contacting me at Charles.rae@sky.com."
