Tindle Newspapers this week launched two new paid-for weekly newspapers in the Forest of Dean.
The titles are off-shoots of The Forester, which Tindle Newspapers bought at the beginning of last month. The Newent Forester and Cinderford Forester both sell for 60p.
So far this year Tindle Newspapers has launched eight newspapers – the other six titles were in Greater London. Around ten more regional newspapers have been launched than have closed so far this year.
The two new papers have distinct front pages and changed inside pages compared with the parent edition.
Sir Ray Tindle said: ‘We totally believe in the future of printed local newspapers – we believe in it 100 per cent. Readers want to see their very local news and reports of their activities in print and they want it in their local paper where all their neighbours will see it too.’
According to Tindle Newspapers, the acquision of The Forester was completed in mid-October and the new editions were launched by editor Viv Hargreaves in just two weeks. Two more editions are planned for other towns in the area.
