Financial Times hires Patrick Jenkins as companies editor

By Press Gazette

The Financial Times has appointed Patrick Jenkins companies editor and assistant editor, leaving his two-year post as international company news editor.

He starts his new job on Monday and according to the newspaper, will focus on coverage of UK companies, but will also be responsible for overseeing company news coverage from around the world.

Jenkins has worked as a financial correspondent in Frankfurt and as a UK companies reporter, as well a stint as personal finance correspondent and production editor on the FT’s special reports.

He first joined the FT Group in 1996 as editor of FT World Insurance Report, its newsletter, before which he was a translator and editor at Reuters.

Lionel Barber, the paper’s editor, said: “I’m very pleased to be able to appoint such an experienced and talented journalist to this key position.”
