Maxim has poached Tim Fennell from BBC Radio Times to be its new executive editor. The news follows the departure of former executive editor Michael Hodges, who left two weeks ago to edit Jack.
Fennell is currently a consultant editor at Radio Times, having previously been deputy editor on More! and associate editor on Sky Magazine and XL. He has also worked as an editorial consultant on the relaunches of Motorcycle News, Sunday magazine, Max Power and More!
Maxim editor-in-chief Tom Loxley described Fennell’s appointment as “a wise old head returning to the fold”. “Fortunately for his wife, he looks half his age,” he quipped.
Fennell said: “It’s a great opportunity to get involved with one of the more grown-up men’s magazines in the market – even though some of the staff have been spotted wearing shorts around the office.”
