Fighting for quality news media in the digital age.

Faye Barker to front ITV’s morning news bulletin

ITV has appointed former Five News and Sky News journalist Faye Barker as presenter of its morning news bulletin, starting next Monday.

Barker, who has presented TV news bulletins for the past decade, will front the ITN-produced bulletin every morning at 5.30am from 14 January.

After getting her first job in broadcasting as an assistant producer at CNBC in 1996, Barker first appeared in front of the camera in 1999 presenting Five News.

She has also presented for Sky News, Setanta Sports News and ITV Yorkshire – where she won an award for an investigative report on bogus taxi drivers.

More recently, she has worked as a freelance rolling news reporter covering major international events including the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and the search for Madeleine McCann.

As well as news and sports reporting, Barker has presented two series of ITV investigative consumer programme Package Holiday Undercover and has conducted celebrity interviews with the likes of Russell Crowe and Hillary Swank.

ITV News managing editor Robin Elias said: “[Faye] is a highly respected TV journalist and well-liked across the industry.
