The free independent weekly broadsheet East Riding Gazette has folded after just two years.
Produced by the East Riding Gazette Group, the paper employed around eight staff – including five in editorial.
Launch editor Neil Speight, now editor of the Thurrock Gazette , said the paper’s first year had been successful.
However,
he added: “The paper’s premise was to be a high-quality editorial
product but the powers that be were unable to sustain that quality.
“In the end I walked away with a great deal of regret.”
