Elle magazine was hit by the resignation of its long-serving fashion director Iain Webb this week.
Hachette Filipacchi, Elle’s publisher, announced Webb would be leaving by “mutual agreement” following the appointment of Elle’s new editor-in-chief Lorraine Candy.
Webb joined the title seven years ago and was instrumental in Elle’s fashion coverage under former editor Sarah Bailey. He is expected to go freelance.
Candy, who was previously editor of Cosmopolitan, is believed to have been chosen because of her strengths in fashion and features.
Insiders predicted there will be a bigger staff shake-up over the summer.
