Egg scoop man retires

By Press Gazette

Sion Jones, the ITV Wales News cameraman who scooped images of John Prescott being egged by a protester, has retired.

Jones
was covering the deputy prime minister’s visit to Rhyl, before the 2001
general election, for ITV Wales News when the incident unfolded.

Jones, 68, from Abergele, joined the TV company, then called HTV, as a freelance news cameraman in 1988.

He
has covered major news, sporting and political events across North
Wales. Although he is retiring the family link with ITV Wales News is
continuing.

His son Gerallt Jones has joined the company as a freelance news camera operator.
