A new deputy editor and design editor have been appointed at the
Birmingham Evening Mail as the title prepares for a major relaunch
under new editor Steve Dyson.
He is planning a total redesign of the paper, which he claims will be the biggest change since it went tabloid 30 years ago.
The
new deputy is Carole Cole, a former Evening Mail journalist who is
assistant editor on sister title The Birmingham Post. Cole, who first
worked with Dyson when they were both on the Mail’s newsdesk in the
late 1990s,replaces Colin Clark, who has left the company.
The
new design editor is Stacey Barnfield, who has worked for the Sunday
Mercury and, latterly, as editor of the magazines division at Trinity
Mirror Midlands.
Dyson said: “We will soon be making some major
changes to the paper and, in Carole and Stacey, I am delighted to have
brought in fresh faces that can assist me in leading that programme.”
