Dunne resigns as Dublin radio chief

The chief executive of Dublin radio station NewsTalk 106, Aidan Dunne, has resigned after 14 months in office.

He is being replaced by 98FM chief executive Dan Healy, who has previously worked on The Irish Times and the Sunday Tribune and more recently with NewsTalk’s biggest shareholder, Denis O’Brien, who owns 98FM. Healy is credited with transforming 98FM into the leading independent station in Dublin.

O’Brien recently said that he was committed to NewsTalk despite its difficulty in building up an audience in the capital, but that he believed some changes at the station were needed.

Healy has said that he is looking forward to what he regarded as “the most exciting challenge in Irish broadcasting today”.
