A 17-year-old student has become the youngest person in the country
to have passed two graduate-level NCTJ exams at the same time.
Daniel Rockett took the handout and journalism exams while in sixth form at Coombeshead College, Newton Abbott.
The college is the only centre in the country where students can study for professional exams at the age of 16.
Rockett,
whose dream is to become an editor, first became interested in
journalism when he was made sports editor of his college’s half-termly
newspaper Coombesheadlines.
Head of journalism Sue White said: “I
have taught the youngest students to pass either the handout or
journalism exam, but Daniel is the first to pass both at the same time.”
