Terry Lloyd, the ITN reporter killed in a crossfire incident during the war in Iraq, will be awarded a posthumous degree from the University of Derby this month in recognition of his work in journalism.
Lloyd, who was born in Derby and began his career at the city’s Raymonds news agency, will be awarded an honorary doctorate of professional practice by the university.
Lloyd was ITV News’s longest serving reporter until his death aged 50 last March. In 1993, he was the first television reporter to expose the genocide committed against northern Iraqi Kurds in Halabja.
His posthumous honorary doctorate will be awarded on 23 January at the Derby Assembly Rooms.
